My Day One

It seems that the most difficult part of blogging is forcing myself to sit down and actually write.  This used to not be a problem for me--I've kept journals since the 4th grade, wrote poems on bar naps while working, recorded ideas and quotes and dreams in notebooks, yada yada yada.  But life somehow, somewhere, got in the way.  It's not that there isn't time in my day; I'm lucky enough to have a few hours to myself every morning before my bartending shifts start in the late afternoons.  However, there always seems to be something I "have" to do--but no more.  I read somewhere it takes 21 days to start a habit and today is Day One.

You know, the hibernation of my writing habit is much like how we let our travels fall through the cracks of day to day routines with thoughts of "Where do I find the time or money?" or "Maybe next year, I have too much going on right now".  Traveling doesn't have to be expensive or time-consuming.  Sometimes, driving two hours from home and throwing up a tent or staying in a local B&B is just as satisfying as hopping a plane and flying cross-country.  If you want or need to get away, just make it happen.  Stop the excuses and make it happen.

A New Home For the Blog

Hello readers that I hope to have soon!  I've been kicking around the idea of moving my blog out of tumblr, and watching Anthony Bourdain always makes me feel ambitious, so here I am.  A great friend of mine has her blog here and it's beautiful so I'm on the Blogger bandwagon, so to speak.  I'm in the middle of streamlining all of my CarriedAway stuff, so there will be lots and lots of fun stuff to come in the future.  If you're a fan of me on Facebook, all of this will be linked soon so you'll never have to miss a post!  Yippee!
